My Memoir

Girl, Don’t Get Sassy: Surviving the Music Industry

This memoir follows Samantha Matusoff as she builds a career in the music industry from the early 2000s to today, working behind the scenes in journalism, labels, and artist management alongside major artists (including Our Lady Peace, Simple Plan, and Lido Pimienta). It traces her rise and the moment when power, silence, and motherhood collide. It reveals how harassment and sexual exploitation were embedded in the system itself, sustained by loyalty, reputation, and cultural norms long before we had language like #MeToo.

There is no other insider memoir about the modern music industry from this era.

It shows what it costs a woman to survive and succeed inside.
